Ocracoke

All aboard the Ocracoke Ferry! We spent a fantastic Memorial Day weekend with our nieces, Joann and Janet, our nephew-in-law, Chris, their friends, Leslie and Jerry, and Dexter, the dog. But, the time has come for us to pedal on. Shortly we'll ride out of North Carolina, a time well spent. The next major city on our route north is Richmond, Virginia. Pennsylvania, our home state, is soon in our sights.

Southern History

The CSS Albemarle, and ironclad ram instrumental in defeating the Union forces at the battle of Plymouth NC, April 1864. After spending a very pleasurable two nights with our friends from Cape Cod, Sandy and Mike, at their home in historic Edenton, our next stop is the Outer Banks for a Memorial Day respite with our nieces and nephew-in-law.

The Tar Heel State

After a week of pedaling we arrived in North Carolina. A special thanks to Sheila, Jerry, Meg, Amy and Mr. Larry for two wonderful days of rest and relaxation, thunderstorms and tornado watches excluded.

The Palmetto State

Charleston was absolutely beautiful but the shoulders on the roads leave much to be desired. One week and 200 miles down on our long ride home.
